Trace McSorley, also known as Richard Thomas McSorley III, is a professional football player who competes for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League as their starting quarterback. He is 1.83 m tall and 92 kg in weight. He played high school football at Briar Woods High School, where he attended. He led the squad to a 13-2 record and a state championship in his first season.

He led the group to a 15-0 record and its third straight state championship in his junior year, two seasons later. Both Virginia Preps and the Virginia Coaches Association named him to the First Team All-State. He received honors as a junior for being named to the First Team All-Dulles District, Dulles District Offensive Player of the Year, and Second Team All-Region quarterback.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Pennsylvania State University, where from 2014 to 2018 he played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He was a true freshman who redshirted. He took part in a total of six games as a redshirt freshman. The 197th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft went to the Baltimore Ravens, who selected McSorley in the sixth round.

He was released by the Ravens in August 2021, however the following day he was re-signed to the practice squad. The Arizona Cardinals acquired his services in November 2021. He was released by the Cardinals on August 30, 2022, and was added to the practice squad the following day. He was added to the active roster on September 7, 2022.
