Travis Swaggerty Pro Career

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Swaggerty with the tenth overall pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.



He signed for $4.4 million and was assigned to the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League’s West Virginia Black Bears, with whom he was selected an All-Star.

In August, he was promoted to the West Virginia Power of the Class A South Atlantic League after hitting .288 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 36 games for the Black Bears.

He batted .129 with one home run and five RBIs in 16 games with the Power this season. Swaggerty was selected as an All-Star with the Bradenton Marauders of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in 2019.

He hit .265/.347/.381 in 121 games, with nine home runs, forty RBIs, and 23 stolen bases. After the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, he did not play in a minor league game.

Swaggerty was assigned to the Indianapolis Indians of the Triple-A East to begin the 2021 season. After dislocating his right shoulder on May 27, he was placed on the 60-day injury list.

Later in the season, he underwent season-ending surgery. Prior to the injury, he hit .220 with three home runs and seven RBIs in 41 at-bats.

The Pirates picked Swaggerty’s contract and signed him to their 40-man roster on November 19, 2021. To begin the 2022 season, he returned to the Indians.
