Tres Barrera Parents: Meet Felipe Barrera and Sylvia Barrera

Felipe “Tres” Barrera III, professionally known as Tres Barrera is an American born professional baseball player of Mexican descent. Tres plays as a catcher for the Washington Nationals baseball team.

He was born in Eagle Pass in Texas on September 15, 1994. He was a baseball player in high school where he played at Sharyland High School. where he played both football and baseball. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Texas to play college baseball.

He also played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League and played for the Orleans Firebirds too. He was drafted by the Washington Nationals during the 2016 MLB draft.

He signed with them and made his professional that year with the Auburn Doubledays of Class A Short Season New York–Penn League. He was assigned to play for the Class A-Advanced Potomac Nationals for the 2018 season. When the season was over, the Nationals chose him to play in the Arizona Fall League for Salt River Rafters.

The Nationals took him to their spring training in 2019. Tres was promoted to the major leagues in September 2019 and he made his MLB debut on September 14, 2019, for the team.
