American pitcher Trevor J. Megill plays for the Major League Baseball team Minnesota Twins.
He has prior MLB experience with the Chicago Cubs. San Diego Padres selected him in the seventh round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
Megill studied at Huntington Beach, California’s Marina High School. He graduated from Bixby Charter School before finishing high school.
He attended Loyola Marymount University after graduating from high school undrafted. Megill underwent Tommy John surgery and missed his junior season.
He was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 104th overall pick in the third round of the MLB draft in 2014, but he declined to sign and went back to school.
After the 2014 campaign, he participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Orleans Firebirds.
In the seventh round of the 2015 MLB draft, the San Diego Padres selected him with the 207th overall pick. He later signed with them.
Megill played for the Tri-City Dust Devils and the AZL Padres separately in 2015, going a combined 2-0 with a 3.16 ERA across 31.1 innings.
Due to problems with his bone spurs, Megill did not participate in any games in 2016. He pitched in 27.1 innings for the Lake Elsinore Storm, Tri-City, and the AZL, finishing 5-0 with a 2.63 ERA.
