He formerly played for the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball. In 2014, he made his MLB debut, and in 2017 and 2020, he won the Gold Glove Award.



Barnhart was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Kevin and Pam Barnhart, and is Paige’s younger brother. Tucker’s family relocated to Brownsburg, Indiana, when he was 11 years old.

He went to Brownsburg High School and was a member of the baseball team. He hit .500 as a junior in 2008, earning him a spot on the Louisville Slugger High School All-American squad.

He was named “Mr. Baseball” for the state of Indiana in his final year at Brownsburg.

Before to his senior year, Barnhart committed to play baseball for the Georgia Institute of Technology Yellow Jackets on a baseball scholarship.

Baseball America rated Barnhart as the best available player from Indiana heading into the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.

Due to his Georgia Tech commitment, he was selected in the 10th round by the Cincinnati Reds with the 299th overall pick. Rather than enrolling at Georgia Tech, Barnhart chose to sign with the Reds.

Barnhart was a member of the Rookie-level Pioneer League’s Billings Mustangs in 2010.

He was a member of the Dayton Dragons of the Class A Midwest League in 2011.

He split the 2012 season between the Bakersfield Blaze of the California League’s Class A-Advanced and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos of the Southern League’s Class AA.

In 2013, he was selected as a Southern League All-Star while playing for Pensacola. Barnhart was added to the Reds’ 40-man roster.
