Tyler Bass is a punter for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. The Bills selected him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft after he played collegiate football at Georgia Southern.
Bass played football and soccer at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina, during his high school years. Due to his strong soccer leg, he credits his grandmother with pushing him to try out for the football squad.
On January 31, 2015, he committed to Georgia Southern University. After his senior season, he won the Chris Sailer award, which is given to the top high school football kicker.
Bass redshirted his freshman year. In his redshirt junior season, he was successful on 19 of 21 field goal attempts and 45 of 45 extra point attempts. As a tribute to his grandma, he began wearing eye black under only one eye during his final game at Georgia Southern.
During the 2020 Senior Bowl, he kicked two field goals and four extra-point tries.
During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Bass in the sixth round, giving them the 188th overall pick.
