The Conklin family is very popular in Shelby for its connection with KnowResolve, a non-profit organization in Shelby Township, Michigan, that works to improve mental health and stop youth suicides through outreach, advocacy, and education.
Dennis Liegghio, the founder of KnowResolve, lost his own father to suicide when he was a teenager, and as a result, he struggled with despair and suicidal thoughts. More than 140,000 adolescents have been exposed to potentially life-saving content through KnowResolve since the program’s inception.

Liegghio and Diana Conklin are the parents of Tyler Conklin who is an NFL star for the New York Jets.
Liegghio and Diana Conklin first met at a conference in the 1990s, and at that time, they came to the conclusion that their experiences, plans, and ambitions pertaining to mental health were congruent with one another. Liegghio is a musician, and Diana is a licensed mental health counselor.
Since that time, Liegghio and Diana have collaborated on a significant amount of community service projects. “KnowResolve operates on a national scale, and its members travel the United States sharing their stories and bringing attention to important issues.
In addition to that, he accomplishes it in a really clever way. Since he is a musician, he does it by singing songs, playing his guitar, and doing other musical things. Their activities are quite exciting to attend.”
