After high school, he made an initial commitment to play college football at Abilene Christian.

He was a three-star recruit. He turned down offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico in favor of playing football for the University of Tulsa’s Tulsa Golden Hurricanes.

He played in the final four games of the season while redshirting his 2019 true freshman year.
