With the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, Tyler Smith is a professional football player who specializes as an offensive tackle. He is 151 kg in weight and 1.98 m tall. North Crowley High School was his alma mater, where he also participated in football. During his junior season, he received recognition as a member of the first team all-district and the third team all-state.
In his first commitment, he chose to play college football at Abilene Christian. He was a three-star recruit right out of high school. Over offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico, he decommitted and chose to play football for the University of Tulsa’s Tulsa Golden Hurricane squad.
He redshirted his true freshman year in 2019, but participated in the final four games of the campaign. He started every game at left tackle for the club during the COVID-19 season, which was cut short, and was selected to the American Athletic Conference’s first team in 2020. (AAC). He was also chosen for the FWAA 2020 Freshman All-Star squad.
He was named to the second team All-AAC in his redshirt sophomore year after starting all 12 of the Golden Hurricane’s games. Following the season, he announced that he would forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility and enter the 2022 NFL Draft. With the 24th overall selection in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Smith.
