With the Danville Braves of the Appalachian League, he hit .290 and had 23 doubles in 49 games, playing primarily third base in his first season in the minor leagues Converted to catcher in 2014, Caratini played 87 games for the Rome Braves of the South Atlantic League, with an overall batting average of 279/335/406.

It was a month later on July 30th, against Zach Davies of the Milwaukee Brewers, that he hit his first major league home run, and the Cubs won a crucial game 3-2 at Miller Park as a result.

In a deal with the Detroit Tigers, the Cubs sent Victor back to the minors in exchange for Alex Avila, a seasoned catcher. Due to Willson Contreras’ injury, the Cubs had no choice but to recall Victor to serve as Avila’s back-up pitcher on August 9th.
