Martin was born on May 9, 1996. He attended Indiana University for his collegiate football career and was selected by Washington in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Martin’s previous teams include the New York Giants and the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League.

Martin spent his childhood in West Milton, Ohio, and received his high school education from Milton-Union. As a junior, he was honoured as Offensive Lineman of the Year in the Southwestern Buckeye League, and as a senior, he was selected to the first-team All-Ohio.

A three-star recruit, Martin chose to sign with Indiana despite receiving offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), and Ohio.

Martin played for the Indiana Hoosiers for a total of five seasons, beginning with a redshirt season as a true freshman. Martin was claimed off waivers by the Washington Commanders on August 24, 2022.

He was released on August 30 before re-signing to their practice squad on September 5, 2022. He played in a total of 50 games for the Hoosiers, 43 of which were starts,
