When Ron Caragher took over as head coach in 2013, Schweitzer started each of the 12 games at left tackle and contributed to the offense’s school-record average of 493.2 yards per game.

The Atlanta Falcons selected Schweitzer in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft (195th overall). On May 5, Schweitzer agreed to a four-year deal with the Falcons. For the first 16 games of the 2017 season, Schweitzer started at right guard for the Falcons.

After losing the starting right guard position to Brandon Fusco in 2018, Schweitzer was demoted to swing guard and the backup center position to start the season. After Andy Levitre suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3, he was designated the starting left guard and started 13 games there.

On October 1, 2022, Schweitzer was placed on injured reserve.
