The New England Patriots put their faith in the returning set of players to perform this offseason, refraining from making any significant adjustments along their interior defensive line.

Among them is the veteran Lawrence Guy, who just recently received the honor of being dubbed the most overrated player on the squad by Henry McKenna of USA Today:

Guy, who is 32 years old and on the back-nine of his career, was nevertheless trusted by New England to play a significant part in 2021.

When everything was said and done, he ranked third behind Christian Barmore and Davon Godchaux in defensive playing time among interior defensive linemen.

It remains to be seen if his role will shift as he enters his 11th season in the league and his sixth as a Patriot. Despite this, a return by Guy to the level of play he shown prior to the year 2021 would be beneficial to a defensive unit that struggled to hold its ground in the front line.
