Tucker played football for the Texas Longhorns as a student at the University of Texas. He played college football for Texas before being signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2012.

Tucker, one of the best kickers in history, leads the NFL with a 91.1 percent success rate. He also holds the NFL record for the longest successful field goal, which is 66 yards.

He made the game-winning field goal with seconds remaining in 2011 to put an end to a rivalry that saw Texas A&M University and the University of Texas play each other 118 times over 117 years.

Tucker was undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. On May 29, 2012, the Baltimore Ravens acquired his services. In training camp and exhibition games, he will team up with placekicker Billy Cundiff.

After a solid preseason performance, Tucker was granted the starting job while Cundiff was fired. Tucker was selected for his sixth Pro Bowl after the season.

Tucker became the first kicker to appear on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2022 list when he was ranked 94th.
