On August 15, 1993, Joshua Dobbie McKissic was born. He plays running back in American football with the National Football League’s Washington Commanders (NFL).
At Arkansas State, where he played college football, he set the Sun Belt Conference record for most career receptions with 289 of them.
McKissic played for the Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016.
McKissic, who was born in Phenix City, Alabama, on August 15, 1993, later participated in high school football at Central High School.
McKissic, a three-star wide receiver recruit, chose Arkansas State over offers from Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina to play collegiate football. In all but three of his college games, he started for the Arkansas State Red Wolves as a multi-positional player.
He set school records in 2012 while wearing a red-shirt, finishing second in the Sun Belt with 103 receptions and second all-time at Arkansas State with 1,022 receiving yards. He was also named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and a Scripps Freshman All-American.
After tying a school record with 11 receptions, 113 yards, and a touchdown against Kent State in the Go-Daddy Bowl, he was named the offensive MVP. He twice tied for third most receptions in a game with 12, and his four 100+ yard receiving outings for Arkansas State tied for third most in a season.
Earlier that offseason, the Washington Football Team, then known as the Redskins, changed its identity, and McKissic signed a two-year deal with them on March 26, 2020. McKissic recorded 107 yards from scrimmage and a receiving score in Week 15’s 20-15 loss to his former team, the Seattle Seahawks.
McKissic beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-30 in Week 4 of the 2021 season after scoring the game-winning touchdown on a 30-yard catch and run.
McKissic scored two touchdowns—one running and one receiving—in a win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12 before going down with a concussion.
Later, he was put on injured reserve. McKissic, a free agent in 2022, initially accepted terms on a two-year, $7 million deal with the Buffalo Bills before accepting the identical offer from Washington.

McKissic, unfortunately, endured a horrific injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the campaign. When McKissic became a free agent, he had a number of options in the league and almost signed with the Buffalo Bills, but he chose to stay with the Commanders.

He suffered a neck injury that has kept him on the sidelines for a while. To this end, he didn’t practice recnetly. After the Commanders ruled out McKissic for a Week 9 matchup with the Vikings, coach Ron Rivera said the running back was slated to visit a specialist, but new news hasn’t emerged regarding the state of his injury.
