Malcolm Butler is a cornerback that competes in American football for the National Football League, however he is now a free agent. He stands 1.80 m tall. He measures 86 kilograms. He played football as a student at Vicksburg High School.

For Hinds Community College, he received a scholarship. During his first season at Hinds in 2009, he made 22 tackles and one interception but was dismissed from the squad following the fifth game of the year. His stats as a sophomore included 43 tackles, three interceptions, and 12 pass breakups. He began his football career with the West Alabama Tigers in 2012 after enrolling at the University of West Alabama. Physical education was his area of study there.

Butler signed a $3 million, three-year contract with the New England Patriots in May 2014. With the Tennessee Titans, he agreed to a five-year, $61 million deal in March 2018 that included $30 million in guaranteed money. His one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals was inked in March 2021.

Due to a personal decision, he decided to retire in August 2021. On the same day, Butler was added to the Cardinals’ reserve/retired list. The Cardinals officially let him go in February 2022. In March 2022, he emerged from retirement to sign a two-year deal with the New England Patriots. August 16, 2022 saw his placement on injured reserve. August 25, 2022, marked his release.
