In the United States of America, in the town of Bailey, on April 11, 2001, he was born. In Bailey, North Carolina, where he played football, he attended Southern Nash High School.

He accumulated 5,073 rushing yards and 71 touchdowns during his time in high school, setting a school record. After high school, he made a commitment to play football at North Carolina State University. He participated in college football at North Carolina State University from 2019 to 2021 for the NC State Wolfpack football team.

As a true freshman in 2019 at North Carolina State, Knight made seven starts and led the team in rushing with 745 yards on 136 carries and five touchdowns. He once again led the club in rushing during the 2020 football season, with 788 yards on 143 runs while scoring 10 touchdowns.
