In the majors last year, his fastball velocity was 91.6 mph, and in 2020, it will be 93.2 mph.

His repertoire consists primarily of a sinker, slider, and changeup, none of which receives much spin. While his changeup has shown above-average vertical and horizontal movement, his sliders haven’t.

He was originally picked in the 14th round of the 2018 amateur draft by the Nationals, but was traded to the Mariners in 2019.

Prior to the 2020 season, Baseball America ranked him as the Mariners’ No. 22 prospect.

During his minor league career, Fletcher went 11-5 with three saves, a 2.69 ERA (153.2 IP, 46 earned runs), and 163 strikeouts in 93 appearances (seven starts).

He’ll join the Pirates in what could be a wide-open battle for bullpen spots. David Bednar and Chris Stratton appear to be the two Pirate relievers that appear to be set for next season’s bullpen.
