Dean Decillis, a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, noticed Kirk at a showcase put on by the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League.

On September 24, 2016, he was signed by the team and got a $7,500 signing bonus, with the Toros receiving $22,500 in exchange for his release.

In 2017, he made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League’s Rookie-level Blue Jays, appearing in one game.

He spent the whole 2018 season with the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays, batting.354 with 10 home runs and 57 runs batted in (RBI) across 58 games.
