Faedo was selected 18th overall by the Detroit Tigers, and his slot value is slightly over $3.2 million.

When Faedo was introduced during a Wednesday afternoon news conference at Comerica Park, he wore a Tigers cap and a No. 1 Tigers shirt.

Before seeing the media, Faedo had a brief discussion with Tigers veteran ace Justin Verlander.

Faedo, who stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds, pitched 123 2/3 innings and went 9-2 with a 2.26 ERA and 157 strikeouts.

Faedo will not pitch in the Tigers’ farm system until next season, according to Scott Pleis, director of amateur scouting. “He’ll report to Lakeland and do everything the other guys do, but he’s not going to throw.”

Faedo stated that he intends to train with the organization’s strength and conditioning team.

He admitted to having a cramp in his final performance at the College World Series, but it isn’t the reason the Tigers have suspended him for the rest of the season.
