In 2020, the Wisconsin athlete, then in his second year, had something of a breakout season, starting 11 of the team’s 16 contests in head coach Brian Flores’ takeaway-generating defense.



Van Ginkel played a role in the team’s advantage in turnovers thanks to his three forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks, and a 78-yard touchdown reception. He was a perfect fit for Miami’s defensive systems, thus he should be among the starting linebackers again in 2021.

After Myles Gaskin, Van Ginkel will have the lowest salary of any starter on the club. As a result of the Dolphins’ late-round draft positioning, one of their starting outside linebackers will earn only $850k in 2021.
