During that season, his speed climbed from the mid-80s to the high-90s. Honeywell was selected in the second round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Honeywell was transferred to the Oakland Athletics for monetary considerations on November 19, 2021.

 

Brent Honeywell, his father, played Minor League Baseball from 1988 to 1990. Mike Marshall, a two-time All-Star and 1974 NL Cy Young Award winner, is his father’s cousin.
