According to Adam Schefter’s reporting, Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah plans to sign a deal with the New York Jets that will pay him $24 million over the course of three years.

Uzomah, now 29 years old, was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2015 draft after coming out of Auburn.

After completing the final season of his initial rookie deal, which was for four years, he signed a new deal with the Bengals in 2019 that was worth $18 million over three years.

Uzomah was an unrestricted free agent this offseason and made base salaries of $3,050,000 and $4,750,000 over the following two years of this deal as part of the agreement. However, he was exploring his options on the open market.

Uzomah had a total of 16 appearances with the Bengals in 2021, catching 49 catches for 493 yards receiving (averaging 10.1 yards per catch) and scoring five touchdowns.

Uzomah spent 2011–14 on Auburn’s football team. As a senior, he played in 13 games, starting five times, and he had 11 catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2013, the Associated Press named him to its All-SEC Second Team. On a trick play as a freshman at Georgia, he connected with fellow tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen for a four-yard touchdown pass.
