Wide receiver Calvin Jackson Jr. was officially signed by the Jets, who made the announcement on Monday.
Jackson was not selected in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Washington State, and up until the Miami Dolphins formally signed him on Monday, he was scheduled to attend their minicamp.
Through the 2020 season, the Cougars hauled in just 38 catches, and the former Washington State star had a restricted role during his first three seasons.
But in 2021, he really started to shine, finishing with 66 receptions for 978 yards and seven touchdowns, in part due to a permanent switch to the slot.
Jackson, who was miscast as an outside receiver before his senior year at Washington State because of his small stature (5′ 8″ and 193 pounds), played all but two snaps at that position before the season.
In the slot, Jackson was able to make the most of his agility and YAC skills, which allowed him to have the year he had.
Before transferring to Washington State, former JUCO standout Jackson was teammates with fellow Jets rookie Jermaine Johnson at Independence Community College. The two are now back together in Florham Park.
