The Patriots selected McGrone in the fifth round of the NFL Draft last spring, and he was seen working out with the team at various times over the offseason. But because he was still recuperating from a season-ending knee injury sustained in November of the previous year, he had to watch from the sidelines.

McGrone enters his second season as a professional without any in-game experience due to his injury recovery. In spite of this, he does list some of his accomplishments from the University of Michigan on his resume.

Over the course of three seasons, he participated in 19 games for the Wolverines overall. Despite this, the majority of his playing time came in his second season with the team. McGrone started 10 games in his second season after appearing in only one as a true freshman.



Even though the aforementioned ACL tear ended his Michigan career early, he demonstrated his talent in both that year and in 2020. He received two honorable mentions for the Big Ten team before leaving the university.
