Carlos Watkins plays defensive end for the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys. He is 1.91 m tall and 138 kg in weight. He participated in football while a student at Chase High. As a junior, he recorded 50 tackles and 14.0 sacks. As a senior, he recorded 15 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Clemson University where he played NCAA football for the Clemson Tigers.
As a true freshman in 2012, he played in nine games, recording 16 tackles and three quarterback pressures. He played in three games with one start prior to being involved in a car accident that left him with blood clots in both of his legs and caused the end of his sophomore season.
He came back to the field in 2014 as a redshirt sophomore. He made 11 appearances as a backup, recording 13 tackles and 4 quarterback pressures. In 53 games with 30 starts, 191 tackles, and 14 sacks, he completed his college career. In the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected Watkins.
He signed a contract to play defensive lineman in a 4-3 defense on March 22, 2021, with the Dallas Cowboys. He re-signed with the Cowboys on March 22, 2022, for a single season. He was cut on August 30, 2022, and the following day, he was added to the practice squad. On October 22, 2022, he was added to the active roster of the Cowboys.
