Chris Glaser, a former offensive lineman for the University of Virginia Cavaliers, has joined the National Football League. The New York Jets made the announcement on Tuesday that Glaser had signed a contract to become a member of their squad.
Glaser, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 306 pounds, joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent at the beginning of May. Through the summer, Glaser stayed with the team, and the Chiefs appeared to have room on their 90-man roster for him.
The Chiefs waived Glaser last week so they could sign Orlando Brown Jr., another offensive lineman who had been holding out for a new deal during the first few days of training camp.
The Jets made the move to sign Glaser on Tuesday, only one day after offensive tackle Mekhi Becton of the New York Jets suffered a knee injury on Monday. This meant that Glaser was only available for a short time on the free agent market.
At Virginia, Glaser participated in a total of 54 games during his collegiate career, including 44 starts on the offensive line in a variety of positions. In 2021, the Pro Football Network’s All-America Team acknowledged him with an honorable mention.
Glaser, who has played guard in the past, is seeing more and more doors open for him in the NFL now that he has experience playing both rights and left guard.
