Christian Stephen Yelich is a Major League Baseball left fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was previously with the Miami Marlins. In the first round of the 2010 MLB draft, the Marlins picked Yelich.



Christian Yelich’s nine-year, $215 million contract has been released, and it includes deferred money that will keep the Brewers paying their star outfielder long beyond the next nine years. In fact, Milwaukee will pay him until 2042.

The Brewers will defer $4 million each year from his $26 million annual pay from 2022 to 2028, according to the Associated Press.

A $20 million mutual option for 2029 with a $6.5 million buyout is included in the arrangement, with $2 million of the buyout postponed.

If the buyout is owed, the $30 million in delayed money would be paid in 12 installments of $2.5 million on July 1 of each year from 2034 through 2042.

If the buyout isn’t paid, Yelich will receive the $28 million in 11 $2.3 million installments from 2031 through 2041, with a final payment of $2.3 million on July 1, 2042.

The agreement includes a full no-trade clause for Yelich, as previously stated.

It also provides him with four VIP seats to 20 regular-season games each year that he and his partner have agreed upon. So, if he has any Cubs fans among his buddies, he can definitely get the tickets.
