Christian Stephen Yelich is a left fielder in Major League Baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was a member of the Miami Marlins in the past. In the first round of the 2010 MLB draft, the Marlins picked Yelich.



He debuted in Major League Baseball with the Marlins in 2013 and was dealt to the Brewers during the 2017-18 offseason.

Yelich attended Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California, where he batted .373 with 25 hits and 16 strikeouts in 67 at-bats as a freshman.

In 91 at-bats as a sophomore, he batted.341 with 31 hits and 24 strikeouts. Yelich batted .489 with 46 hits and six strikeouts in his junior season.

He batted .451 in 82 at-bats as a senior, with 37 hits, nine strikeouts, and nine home runs. He was awarded Second Team All-American by Max Preps and placed 34th among the best 100 high school players in the US.

Yelich got a baseball scholarship to play for the Miami Hurricanes in college.

Yelich was drafted in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins with the 23rd overall pick.

On August 17, just before the deadline to sign 2010 draftees was about to pass, Yelich and the Marlins agreed to a $1.7 million signing bonus.

Before being promoted to Class-A, Yelich appeared in six games for the Gulf Coast League Marlins, recording nine hits and seven strikeouts while hitting .375.

In 2010, he batted .348 in six games with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He had a .261 batting average in 2011, with 43 hits, six strikeouts, and four home runs.

In both 2011 and 2012, Yelich was selected Minor League Player of the Year by the Marlins.
