In both 2019 and 2020, while playing college football for Oklahoma, he was named the Big 12 Conference’s offensive lineman of the year.

The Chiefs picked him up in 2021, in the second round of the NFL draft. While in high school, Humphrey played football for the Shawnee High School Wildcats in Shawnee, Oklahoma.



He is ranked as the third-best centre in the country and the fifth-best prospect in Oklahoma by 247Sports. In addition, he held the third spot in Oklahoma.

Humphrey took part in the Army’s 2017 All-American Football Game. He officially committed to playing collegiate football for the Texas A&M Aggies in June of 2016.

Later, though, he reneged on his word and signed a National Letter of Intent with Oklahoma instead. Humphrey sat out his freshman year of college football at Oklahoma in 2017 in a redshirt.

In 2018, he started 12 of the 14 games he played in. He returned to Oklahoma in 2019 and 2020 as the team’s starting centre and was honored as the Big 12 Conference’s offensive lineman of the year in both seasons.

Humphrey announced after the end of the 2020 season that he would forego his final year of college eligibility to participate in the 2021 NFL Draft.
