On July 15, 2013, Sánchez signed as an international free agent with the Tampa Bay Rays for a $65,000 signing bonus.



The DSL Rays were his team during 2014, 2015, and 2016 seasons. In 2014, Sánchez was 1–3 with a 7.77 ERA in 22 innings, 2–1 with a 3.54 ERA in 20+13 innings in 2015, and 5–3 with a 3.06 ERA in 61+23 innings in 2016.
