The Giants turned down Jones’ fifth-year option for 2023 in April 2022. Jones led the Tennessee Titans to a 21-20 comeback victory in the season’s first game against them by throwing for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

In Week 5’s surprise victory over the Green Bay Packers, Jones completed 21 of his 27 attempts for passes, threw for 217 yards, and gained 37 yards on 10 rushes.

In Week 7’s 23-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jones passed for 202 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 107 yards, becoming the first Giants quarterback to do so since Frank Filchock in 1946.

Jones’ performance earned him the title of Week 7 NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
