Denzel Mims, a wide receiver with the New York Jets, submitted a request on Thursday to be traded or dismissed.
Mims, who was selected in the second round in 2020, has played in 20 games throughout his first two seasons and has 31 receptions for 490 yards but no touchdowns.
A statement was released by his Agent Ron Slavin clarifying the stance of his client, who is 24 years old.
According to the official Jets depth chart, Mims is one of the receivers on the second team, which means that he is ranked below starters like Corey Davis, Braxton Berrios, and Elijah Moore.
In the first game of the preseason, which took place on August 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Mims caught two receptions for a total of 25 yards.
During the preseason game on Monday against the Atlanta Falcons, he recorded three receptions for a total of 43 yards.
In the third year of his four-year rookie deal, which will begin in 2022, Mims will be eligible to receive a base salary of $1.1 million.
