Hafford, who was 24 years old at the time, had joined New England as a member of the 2022 undrafted class. The graduate of Tarleton State University was released from the team after the conclusion of the rookie minicamp in May, but he was invited back for a workout in August.
Hafford, who was listed as 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, played for Tarleton State for six years and appeared in 56 games during that time. He finished the game with a total of 243 tackles, 12 interceptions, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, and two scores, in addition to blocking one kick and scoring two touchdowns.
The Associated Press named Hafford to the second team of FCS All-Americans and named him the defensive player of the year in the Western Athletic Conference when he was a redshirt senior. He tied for fourth in Division I with six interceptions, and he tied for third with eight takeaways.
