DeVonta Smith plays wide receiver professionally for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He is 1.83 m tall and 77 kg in weight. He played basketball and football at Amite High Magnet School. After graduating from high school, he played collegiate football for the Alabama Crimson Tide at the University of Alabama.
In 2017, as a true freshman, he hauled in eight passes for 160 yards and three scores. He hauled in 42 passes for 693 yards and six scores as a sophomore in 2018. With 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns on 68 receptions, he was the Crimson Tide’s leading receiver in both receiving yards and touchdowns. He achieved career highs in a game in September 2018 with 274 yards and 5 touchdowns.
In November 2020, he beat the previous SEC career record for receiving touchdowns. He set over seven receiving school records while competing for Alabama. The Senior Bowl in 2021 offered him the option to compete, but he declined. In the NFL Draft for 2021, Smith was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the tenth overall pick.
On June 3, 2021, he signed a rookie contract worth $20.1 million with the Eagles for four years. Smith recorded a career-high 169 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions in Week 3 of the 2022 NFL season as his team defeated the Washington Commanders 24-8.
