Elías David Díaz Soto, professionally known as Elias Díaz is a professional baseball player from Venezuela. Elias plays as a catcher for the Colorado Rockies baseball team of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has a height of 1.85 m and weighs 101 kg.

He was born and raised in Maracaibo in Venezuela on November 17, 1990.  He was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in 2008. He did not play that season and started his professional career the following year with the Venezuelan Summer League Pirates.

Elias played for the Gulf Coast Pirates in 2010. He played for the West Virginia Power and the Bradenton Marauders in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 minor league seasons. He was assigned to spend the 2014 season with the Double-A Altoona Curve. He earned a promotion during the season to play for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

He made it to the Pirates’ 40-man roster in November 2014 and he made his MLB debut for the Pirates’ on September 12, 2015. He became a free agent in December 2019 after he was non-tendered by the Pirates.

The Colorado Rockies signed him on a minor league contract in January 2020. The Rockies added him to their Opening Day roster and also to their 40-man roster in July 2020. In November 2021, the Rockies extended Elias’s contract to three years. The contract was worth $14.5 million.
