Eric John Hosmer is an American professional baseball first baseman for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. He was born on October 24, 1989. From 2011 through 2017, he was a member of the Kansas City Royals.

Scouts regarded Hosmer as a “left-handed batter with raw power” coming out of American Heritage High School in Florida.

In the 2008 MLB draft, the Royals selected him with the third overall pick and paid him a $6 million signing bonus. Before making his MLB debut in 2011, he advanced through Minor League Baseball.

Hosmer married Fox News sports host Kacie McDonnell in October 2020.  On December 31, 2021, the couple married. Hosmer is a Florida resident.
