What Is George Fant Salary: How Much Does George Fant Make?

Many people couldn’t believe the news broke that the Jets had signed former Seahawks OT George Fant to a three-year, $30 million contract.

The whole purpose of GM Douglas’ actions in getting Fant on board, however, must be understood by looking beyond the surface of this agreement.

When you factor in the figures that Ralph Vacchiano of SNY revealed, Fant’s contract is actually worth $27.3 million over those three years. Additionally, only $9.25 million of the $13.7 million is fully guaranteed.

The remaining $4.45 million will have a complete guarantee on the fifth league day of 2021. The maximum amount of the contract is $30 million after bonuses.

As a result, Fant is essentially signing a $9.25 million, one-year contract with the Jets, as Manish Mehta of the Daily News noted.

That isn’t too awful for someone who is still considered to be a work in progress at the tackle position. Additionally, the Jets still have the No. 11 overall pick in the NFL Draft to add another tackle.

With Greg Van Roten tied to them and Alex Lewis formally rejoining the fold, Douglas is also active in the guard market. According to Vacchiano, Van Roten, who has started the last two seasons in Carolina, is now being spoken to by the team.

According to Michael Nania, Fant’s pass-blocking performance last season was lower than that of Chuma Edoga and Brandon Shell, two players the Jets were attempting to replace this offseason. Fant was ranked 75th out of 84 qualified tackles.
