While attending Champagnat Catholic School in Hialeah, Florida, he participated in football as a defensive end, safety, and wide receiver.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Miami to play NCAA football for the Miami Hurricanes. He had his first career interception on October 10, 2021, during the fifth-week victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, earning him the AFC Defensive Player of the Week title.
