In the National Football League, Ian Bunting is a tight end for the Dallas Cowboys. He is 117 kg in weight and 2.01 meters tall. When he was a student at Hinsdale Central High School, he participated in football on both the offense and the defense. For a total of 583 yards and 4 touchdowns while playing offense, he caught 27 passes. He recorded 12 stops and two sacks on the defensive line.

After graduating from high school, he signed a letter of intent to play NCAA football for the University of Michigan’s Michigan Wolverines. He redshirted his rookie campaign before hauling in five passes as a freshman in 2015. 2016 saw him record five catches once more, but 2017 saw him record just one as a junior.

He participated in 34 games for the squad before transferring to the University of California. With the California Golden Bears of the University of California, he continued his football career, playing in 13 games and starting four of them. Bunting was not selected in the 2019 NFL Draft and was subsequently signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.

The same month after signing with the New York Jets, he was added to the practice squad. He signed a futures contract in January 2021 with the Arizona Cardinals. In September 2021, Bunting joined the Dallas Cowboys auxiliary roster. He was waived/injured on August 15, 2022, and placed on injured reserve.
