Jack Suwinski is one of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ numerous outstanding outfield prospects. Based on early performances in 2022, the corner outfield slugger appears to have built on his breakout 2021 season.



He could now be on his way to Triple-A Indianapolis in the early part of the season.

Suwinski, who was acquired as part of the Adam Frazier deal at the deadline, was having an outstanding season with the San Diego Padre Double-A club, batting .269/.398/.551.



Suwinski had hit 15 home runs and had a .282 isolated slugging percentage. In addition, he walked 16.9% of the time. The only drawback was his poor strikeout rate of 27.7%. He did, however, have a.412 wOBA and a 150 wRC+.

Suwinski continued to put up excellent numbers after being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, however he did so with less power.

With a 13.7 percent walk rate, he still achieved a.359 OBP. His wOBA and wRC+ were both .337. His ISO dropped to just.138 as a result of this. His lack of power was exacerbated by some unfortunate fate.

Despite a nearly 150-point drop in ISO, he cut his ground ball percentage to 28.4%, down from 34% with the Padres.
