Long snapper Jake McQuaide and the Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement on a new one-year deal as the free agency spending spree gets underway at the beginning of this year’s bargaining period.
McQuaide, who will be playing in his 12th NFL season, has been with the Cowboys since 2021 when he followed special teams coordinator John Fassel from the Los Angeles Rams. The 34-year-old veteran played for the Rams for a total of ten seasons, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl in both 2016 and 2017.
As the Cowboys originally signed McQuaide after parting ways with longtime veteran L.P. Ladouceur, it will be nice to have a settled long-snapper situation going forward. These two players are the only ones the Cowboys have used as long snappers since 2003, and they have combined for three appearances in the Pro Bowl between the two of them.
The question of who McQuaide will be snapping for during this season is, of course, the most interesting facet of this situation. Bryan Anger, a Pro Bowl punter, is now without a contract and has the option to sign with another team in the coming days.
How Much Does Jake McQuaide Make?
Jake McQuaide receives a yearly income of $1,272,500 on average. McQuaide’s base salary will be $1,120,000 in 2022, with a cap hit of $895,000.
