He attended Saint Louis University and was a member of the Saint Louis Billikens college baseball team. He went 8–2 with a 2.68 ERA in 2014.



Norwood was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs.

He signed with the Cubs and pitched for the Arizona League Cubs and the Boise Hawks in his first professional season, finishing 0–2 with a 7.65 ERA in 20 innings pitched.

In 2015, he pitched in the Arizona League and for the South Bend Cubs, compiling a combined 2–6 record and 4.68 ERA in 17 total games (11 starts), while in 2016, he appeared for both South Bend and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, posting a combined 4–1 record and 3.25 ERA in 30 total relief appearances.

He pitched in relief for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the Tennessee Smokies in 2017, posting a combined 4–3 record and 3.28 ERA in 57+23 innings.

He started 2018 with the Tennessee Volunteers before being promoted to the Iowa Cubs in June.

Norwood was promoted to the major leagues by the Cubs on July 8, 2018, and he made his major league debut on July 11, giving up one run on three hits and one walk in 1+23 innings while striking out two.

Following the signing of Tony Wolters, Norwood was designated for assignment on March 31, 2021.
