He began his collegiate football career at Ventura College before transferring to Washington State University. He was chosen by the Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft to play for them.

In Augusta, Georgia, where she graduated from both Curtis Baptist High School and Lucy Craft Laney High School, Watson spent his formative years.

Watson made his first career interception and scored his first career touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers. He returned an interception that he made for 99 yards and a touchdown.

He received the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for his performance.
