Jermaine Johnson, a defensive end, was selected by the New York Jets with the number 26 overall choice in the NFL draft. On Monday, the Jets signed Johnson to a rookie contract worth $13.1 million over four years.
The Jets have the option to pick up Johnson’s fifth year of the contract, which comes with a signing bonus of $6.7 million for the player.
In order to secure Johnson, who is anticipated to make an early contribution as a pass rusher, New York made a deal that moved them back into the first round.
