In the National Football League, Joseph Cardona is a long snapper for the New England Patriots. He was born to Patrick and Margaret Cardona on April 16, 1992, in El Cajon, California, in the United States. In 2010, he earned his diploma from Granite Hills High School. He attended Newport, Rhode Island’s Naval Academy Preparatory School for a full year before submitting an application to the Naval Academy. There, he majored in economics and played football for the Navy Midshipmen squad.

During his four years as a Navy long snapper, he began every game. Cardona was the fourth pure long snapper to ever be picked in the fifth round of the NFL Draft when the New England Patriots made him their selection. The Patriots signed rookie Cardona to a contract on June 4, 2015. Prior to the Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017, he participated in both of their postseason triumphs.

He contributed to the New England Patriots’ 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Cardona participated in the Super Bowl on February 4 and helped the Patriots win both of their postseason games that year. Cardona and the Patriots agreed to a four-year contract extension on June 14, 2018. He served a 24-hour shift as the command duty officer at the Naval Academy Preparatory School during his first season. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in a ceremony that was held at Gillette Stadium in June 2019.
