Johan Valentin Camargo Ramos is a Panamanian professional baseball infielder for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. He was born on December 13, 1993. (MLB).
He was previously with the Atlanta Braves. In 2017, he made his MLB debut. Camargo, a 16-year-old out of Panama, signed with the Atlanta Braves for $42,000 in July 2010.
Camargo made his professional debut with the DSL Braves in 2012 after missing the 2011 season. Camargo hit.294 in 57 games with Rookie-level Danville in 2013.
Camargo began 2014 in Single-A Rome before being promoted to High-A Lynchburg late in the season. In 132 games at both levels in 2014, he hit.266 with 46 RBI. Camargo hit.258 with 32 RBI in 130 games with High-A Carolina in 2015.
Camargo spent the bulk of the 2021 season in the Gwinnett Stripers, where he learned to play first base and was chosen to the Braves’ roster for the National League Championship Series, replacing Terrance Gore.
For the World Series, Gore replaced Camargo on the Braves’ roster. The Braves finally win the World Series in 2021, their first championship since 1995.
Camargo became a free agent on November 30, 2021, when the Braves declared that they will not tender a contract to him for the 2022 season. Camargo signed a one-year contract worth $1,360,000 with the Philadelphia Phillies on December 1, 2021. He now earns a salary of $1,400,000 in 2022
