What Is Jonnu Smith Salary: How Much Does Jonnu Smith Make?

Jonnu Smith did not live up to the $50 million contract he signed with the New England Patriots on the first day of free agency, in contrast to fellow high-priced tight end Hunter Henry, who fit in perfectly during his first year in Foxborough.

It’s safe to say the former Tennessee Titan is the 2021 squad’s biggest letdown.

Smith was supposed to provide much-needed big-play output in the passing game, but he looked lost, confused, and horrible for the whole 16-game season, finishing with a dismal 28 receptions for 294 yards and a single touchdown.

As expected, the physically gifted tight end did not live up to the promise, especially considering his average annual compensation of $12.5 million.

This summer is a chance for Smith to make a new start. After an ineffective season that prompted questions about his future in New England, he must prove that he is a good fit by developing better chemistry with second-year quarterback Mac Jones, showing more consistency as a blocker, and making better use of his athleticism to gain yards after the catch.

If Smith improves, his cap hit of $13.6 million (fourth on the club) won’t be justified. After four years with the Titans, it’s obvious the Patriots overpaid for a player who caught 114 passes for 1,302 yards and 16 touchdowns.
