José Luis Tena plays baseball and is an infielder for the Cleveland Guardians. On March 20, 2001, Tena was born. He was born in the Dominican Republic, specifically in San Cristobal.
As an unrestricted foreign free agent, Tena agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Indians in July 2017. In 51 games with the Dominican Summer League Indians in 2018, he hit 313 with one home run and 23 runs batted in to make his professional debut.
2019 saw him play 44 games for the Indians of the Arizona League, hitting.325 with one home run and 18 runs batted in. He did take part in a game due to the minor league season ending in 2020.
Tena played with the Lake County Captains for the entire 2021 season, slashing.281/.331/.467 across 107 games with 16 home runs and 58 runs batted.
After the season, he played for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League, where he had a.387 hitting average over 17 games and won the batting title.
Tena joined the Cleveland Guardians, who had just changed their identity, on November 19, 2021.
Tena was pulled off of Double-A Akron’s starting lineup on Thursday for an unknown reason, according to Matt Kardos of MLB.com. It’s unclear why Tena was taken out of the lineup so late on Thursday given that he had gone 0 for 6 with two strikeouts over the previous two games.
How Much Does Jose Tena Make?
In 2017, Cleveland paid $400,000 to sign Tena, an international free agent from Azua, Dominican Republic. His first option year will be this one. The salary for Jose Tena is currently uncertain yet.
