At Florida State, he participated in football for the Seminoles. After a season at Florida, where he was named the starting left tackle, he transferred to Butler Community College (BCC). He decided against returning to Florida State University and instead transferred to Marshall University in 2019.
He played collegiate football for the Marshall Thundering Herd at Marshall University. Ball was taken by the Dallas Cowboys with the 138th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. On May 20, 2021, he executed his rookie contract.
